  12.  Good suggestions I've seen so far, but the REAL fix is:
  13.     Click Start, Run, type REGEDIT in the command line and click OK.
  14.     Go to Search, click Find, and type DIALSUFFIX in the search box (no
  15. spaces)
  16.     Once the DialSuffix item is found, double click it.
  17.     In Value, you'll see a ;     remove the ; and click OK.
  18. Now click Registry, and Exit.  Next time you restart, modem will make
  19. noise.
